What is a Voice Tweet?

Voice tweets are short audio clips you can record and send as tweets on Twitter. Like a regular tweet, your voice tweet will appear on your profile and in your followers’ timelines.

Voice tweets allow you to share your thoughts in an authentic and personal way. Some popular uses of these tweets include:

Top Ways to Use Voice Tweets

As voice tweets become more popular, brands and influencers are finding creative ways to use them. Here are some of the top ways to use voice tweets in your social media strategy:

1. Improve Your Brand Personality

Using voice tweets is an easy way to inject more personality into your brand. Recording short audio messages allows you to connect with your audience in an authentic, human way.

In fact, 86 percent of consumers choose businesses with an honest, straightforward, genuine identity. Voice tweets quickly make your brand appear that way.

Here’s how to use voice tweets to boost your brand’s personality:

2. Promote Your Products

Promoting your products on Voice Tweet is an easy way to reach new potential customers. When people follow your profile, they’ll receive alerts whenever you post a new voice tweet.

Consider using this platform to:

Announce Sales or Special Offers

Post a short message promoting the deal and include relevant details or links. Your followers who have notifications enabled will find out right away.

Talk About New Product Launches

Build excitement by recording a voice tweet to announce a product release or reveal. Share some teasers or behind-the-scenes details to create buzz.

Review or Demo Products

Post voice tweets where you discuss how a product works or share your experience using it. Keep these types of voice tweets under 60 seconds for the best engagement.

3. Act as Customer Service

Voice tweets open up an easy new avenue for customer service. Brands can now provide quick voice responses to common questions. It even becomes conversational responses for more complex issues.

Here’s how it works:

FAQ Voice Responses

Record short voice tweets to frequently asked questions from customers. For example, a shipping company may have voice tweets answering queries like:

Conversational Support

Voice conversations may feel more personable than text for some customers. Brands that provide great conversational support over voice tweets will build goodwill and brand loyalty.

4. Increase Customer Loyalty

Voice tweets offer a unique way for brands to strengthen customer loyalty and connection. By sharing short audio messages, you can:

Build Familiarity

Hearing a real human voice helps customers feel like they know your brand on a more personal level. Regular voice tweets in an authentic, friendly tone build familiarity and trust.

Share Entertainment

Lighthearted, fun voice tweets give followers another reason to keep returning to your profile. For example, share a funny story or experience about your product or service.

Spread Positivity

Positivity breeds positivity. Voice tweets with inspiring quotes, encouragement, or simple expressions of gratitude are a great way to boost customer happiness and loyalty.

5. Share Your Stories

Voice tweets open up new opportunities for storytelling. You can share short stories and anecdotes from your day or retell interesting experiences in your own words using the audio format. Some ideas to get started include:

6. Collaborate with Influencers

As an influencer, consider teaming up with other influencers in your niche to co-create voice tweets. Some ideas include:

7. Entertain Your Audience

Voice tweets have significant potential for spreading positivity, lighthearted fun, and creative inspiration. Don’t be afraid to tap into your playful side and share what makes you smile. Your good mood is contagious, and here’s what you need to do:

Can Everyone Use Voice Tweets?

Unfortunately, Voice Tweets are currently only available to iOS users. Android and web users do not have access to this new Twitter feature.

How to Record a Voice Tweet

To record your first voice tweet, follow these simple steps:

1. Tap Post Compose Icon

Tap the Post Compose icon at the top of your Twitter app to start recording a voice tweet. This feature looks like a feather pen.

2. Tap the Voice Icon and Record Your Tweet

To send a voice tweet, tap the voice icon—it looks like a microphone—at the bottom of the tweet composer. Hold the icon and speak your tweet. Release when you’re done recording. Your voice tweet can be up to 140 seconds long.

Some tips for recording effective voice tweets include:

  1. Speak clearly and at a normal volume and pace. Yelling or whispering can make your voice tweet hard to understand.
  2. Find a quiet place to record. Background noise can distract from your message.
  3. Practice what you want to say before recording. Have a script or outline in mind to avoid “um’s” and awkward pauses.
  4. Listen to your recording before posting to ensure it’s clear and conveys your intended message. You can re-record as needed.
  5. Consider transcribing your voice tweet in the text field for accessibility. This allows more people to engage with your tweet.
  6. Be authentic and share your personality. Voice tweets are a chance to connect on a more personal level with your followers.

3. Add Text or Thread

You can add text comments to elaborate on your voice tweet or create a thread of multiple tweets. To add text:

  1. Simply tap the comment icon after recording your voice tweet.
  2. Type your comment and post.

Your followers will see the text displayed below your voice tweet.

On the other hand, creating a thread allows you to share a series of connected thoughts in a sequence. To start a thread:

  1. Record and post your first voice tweet as usual.
  2. Tap the comment icon again and select “Start a thread.”
  3. Record and post your follow-up voice tweets. They will appear linked together in a thread.

4. Post It

After you speak for up to 140 seconds, then post. Like any other update, your followers will see the voice tweet appear in their timelines.

How to Play a Voice Tweet

To play a voice tweet, follow these simple steps:

Look for the Waveform Icon

Voice tweets will have a waveform icon next to them instead of an image. Tap the waveform to begin playback of the audio clip.

Tap to Play

Once you’ve selected a voice tweet, tap the center of the tweet to start playing the audio. The waveform will animate as the audio plays to show the progress.

Adjust Playback Speed

You can speed up or slow down the playback of a voice tweet. Tap the speed selector, which looks like a circle with three lines through it. Choose 1x for normal speed, 1.5x to speed up, or 0.5x to slow down.

Replay Audio

If you want to listen again or miss part of the voice tweet, just tap the tweet again to replay from the beginning. You can replay as many times as you like.

How to See Captions of Voice Tweets

To view the captions for voice tweets, there are a couple of options available to you:

On the Web

Click the “CC” button on the web to view the captions of voice tweets. This button is located at the bottom of the voice tweet window. Clicking it will display what was said in the audio message.

On iOS

  1. Tap or click the CC icon in the top-right corner of the voice tweet window to see the captions.
  2. For iOS 13 and above, go to SettingsAccessibilityHearingCaptions to enable captions for voice tweets.
